WONDER GARDEN is an apothecary collection grounded in the ancient principles of herbalism. Harnessing the cycles of Nature, it reconnects us with the intelligence of the natural world through sensory, seasonal products inspired by 3.7 billion years of living systems - supporting well-being through relationship, not remedy. Nature always gives us what we need, right when we need it. That’s why WONDER GARDEN opens with the SunSeason. Harnessing the vibrancy of Spring and Summer, the apothecary collection is made with organic, invigorating botanicals to uplift, awaken and renew.

Grounded in Linden Tree, said to evoke a sense of sunshine and serenity, Rose, Chamomile, Verbena and Nettle work as one to nurture the body and raise the spirit. As we return to the brighter months, these harmonious herbs help us reconnect with Nature and reawaken to the wonder of the season.

WONDER GARDEN is a three-year project led by House of Hackney founders Frieda Gormley and Javvy M Royle, developed in collaboration with - and certified by - herbalist Harriet Coleman. Harriet trained under, and works in the lineage of one of the foremost voices in the new herbalism movement, Anne McIntyre, continuing and evolving her teachings for a new generation.

In 2021, after some years of learning and research, Frieda and Javvy first planted the Mother Garden of medicinal herbs at their home, the Castle of Trematon, Cornwall. Using the principles of biodynamic planting to harness the power of the lunar cycles when sowing and harvesting, they started to cultivate the plants that would become the foundation of WONDER GARDEN.

For the past seven years, Frieda and Javvy have acted as custodians of the land, ending the use of chemical interventions and allowing Nature to bounce back. As the soil healed, biodiversity returned in abundance - wildflowers re-seeded, insects and birds flourished, as ecosystems began to rebalance and regenerate once again.

Trematon is the physical birthplace of WONDER GARDEN, and its spiritual and philosophical muse - a living reminder that when we listen, tend with care, and work in partnership with Nature, life flourishes again.

Modern life has trained us to move quickly, to look without truly seeing, and to pass through our days without noticing the awe-some living world that surrounds us. This is an invitation to return to a different way of perceiving, to see the world, and to feel our connection to it, as if for the first time.

Because nothing about the world itself has changed; it is only the way we are looking that has shifted. And when we allow our attention to soften and expand again, the seemingly ordinary begins to reveal itself as something far more extraordinary than we could have imagined. Not only in its beauty, but in its intelligence, as a system of relationships that has been evolving, refining, and sustaining life for billions of years.

The plants, the seasons, the body, all are part of the same living system, continuously interacting, responding, and adapting in ways that are both subtle and profound. It’s a system we are a part of, whether we notice it or not.
