In the Company of Nature
In the Company of Nature
Part memoir, part manifesto, βIn the Company of Nature: Regenerating Business, Community and the Living Worldβ by House of Hackneyβs Frieda Gormley, is the extraordinary story of the design house that set out to bring Nature into the home and ended up rewilding the idea of business.
A book with heart (and guts), βIn the Company of Natureβ shows us that change doesnβt start at the top; it begins at the fringe. Through a journey of beauty, activism, spirituality, and systems-change, itβs an invitation to fall back in love with life, and to let Nature guide how we build, work, and live.
ABOUT US
Our Craft Story
Built upon the foundations of creativity with purpose, integrity in our actions and compassion for people and planet, Frieda Gormley and Javvy M Royle first dreamed up House of Hackney in 2011. Today, we use our brand as a force for good, championing craft, Nature and community in our mission to contribute to the restoration of the natural world and the quality of all life on Earth.
In 2023, an independent director acting on behalf of Mother Nature and Future Generations joined our board to sense-check and guide our work for the collective good.Β
Our wonderful customers have protected 513 acres of threatened habitats and their wildlife through our partnership with World Land Trust.
Through events, protests, lobbying and campaigns, we support a collective of positive disruptors to take urgent action on behalf of Mother Nature and Future Generations.
We have begun to account for the full cost the extractive impact of our production has on Nature, so we can quantify the true health and success of our company.
