Colour is the simplest way to change the look and feel of a space. Our paint collection can completely transform a room in a matter of 2 coats.
Whether you’re dreaming up a contemporary, neutral scheme, a bright and bold statement space or a dark and decadent sanctuary, choosing the correct shade can be tricky. Considering the size of your space, the light quality and what mood you want to conjure can be confusing, but we’re here to help demystify the process, and show you how to pick the perfect hue for you, and use our Nature-inspired shades to bring the magic of colour home.
With The Art of Nature paint collection colour card, swatches and mini paint tester pots, you can see how our House will look in your home before committing to a single colour. Each of our low VOC, water-based hues is inspired by the palette of the natural world, and the rich pigments imbue the shades with a depth and subtlety that’s hard to capture in photography, so the best way to see how your favourite colours interact with light, texture and surrounding décor is by sampling in your space.

DOES TESTING PAINT SAMPLES MATTER?
Our paint really does have to be seen to be believed. Online swatches and colour cards can look different to paint in real life. Factors such as undertones, natural and artificial light, the orientation of the room, finishes and even the other decor decisions can all affect the final result. Nothing compares to seeing the real shade in the real space. Our colour swatches are made from our Matt Emulsion paint, showcasing the pigment, depth and finish, and our 125ml sample pots are perfect for trying before you make your colour commitment.

CHOOSING THE HUE FOR YOU
From verdant greens and earthy neutrals to hues inspired by petals and plants, The Art of Nature paint collection is made up of over 60 sublime shades inspired by the beauty of the natural world. When picking the colour for your project, consider what feeling you want the space to evoke; greens and blues are serene and calming, pinks and earthy tones offer a grounding quality and brights and darks offer drama. If you are struggling to choose between various shades, our colour family sample packs are a great way to see different tones of the same hue. And if you need some colour inspiration, look no further than our gallery.

SAMPLE IN YOUR SPACE
The best way to test if a colour will work in your space is by sampling on multiple walls, to see how it changes in different lighting conditions. If you’re applying paint directly to walls, use large brushstrokes and remember to apply 2 coats. Our trade-quality paint promises full colour saturation in 2 coats, so don’t skip this step! It also has a quick drying time, so you can test multiple shades in a short time.
If you don’t want to test the paint on the walls directly, paint sample boards or heavyweight paper and move around different areas of the room to assess how the hue works with your furniture, fabrics and architectural details.

HOW LIGHTING AFFECTS PAINT COLOURS
It's a common misconception that certain homes can't have certain colours. While its true that North-facing interiors receive cooler, indirect light throughout the day, while South-facing spaces benefit from warm natural light, don’t let that stop you from picking your favourite colour - just consider the undertone. If you want to counteract the coolness of a North-facing room, opt for shades with warm earthy tones. If you’d like to enhance the open and airy feel of a South-facing interior, crisp whites, neutrals and cool-toned shades will help to distribute the light around the space. But above all else, go with your heart! If it feels right to you, then you’ve found your ideal hue.
Ready to Commit?
We encourage you to live with your samples for a few days, to see how the colour changes in different weathers and times of the day, (a creamy white may look crisp in the morning light and evolve to a warm, soft neutral under a golden sunset).
Whether you’ve chosen a statement bright or earthy neutral, the goal is to find the colour that brings harmony to your space and makes you fall in love with your home all over again.
