A shade rich in colour and history, ORPIMENT’s mineral namesake was harnessed by creatives in the Middle Ages; used in both painting and writing as an imitation of gold. Warmed by an undercurrent of red, this soothing yellow hue is sure to uplift any space. A versatile shade; coordinate with FLORA FANTASIA in ‘Noir’ or AVALON in ‘Ecru’ for a perfect print pairing. This shade is available in two finishes, choose ‘Emulsion’ to coat your walls with wonder, or opt for ‘Eggshell’ for all of your woodwork paint needs. From all round recyclable packaging, to a complimentary FSC-approved stirrer crafted from by-products; our made to order paint was designed with minimal waste in mind.

Product tips
We recommend trying a swatch before purchase to test the colour in various lights in your home. Swatches are available in Matt Emulsion only, and are painted for a finish and colour true to life. For Eggshell paint the finish will vary slightly to the Matt Emulsion swatch.
It is important to note that colours on screen may vary from actual paint. For the very best results, we recommend priming walls in advance of painting.
We advise to use rollers for larger areas of space, and brushes for cutting in and detailed paint work. Make sure to use a synthetic bristle brush which is better for water based paints.
All paint is made to order.

STEP 1: Measure the room
Before placing your order, be sure to map out the space where you would like the furniture to sit by laying masking tape or newspaper, corresponding to the design’s widest dimensions, onto the floor. You can find the dimensions of each House of Hackney piece under the ‘Product Details’ section of the individual product pages on our website. TIP: It’s a smart move to leave a little wiggle room either side of your chair or sofa, so that it doesn’t have to be wedged into place. Ideally, you want enough of a gap to walk around the piece – or nestle a side table or lamp next to it if desired.
STEP 2: Measure your home
Next, taking into account the height (H), width (W) and depth (D) of your chosen furniture, you will need to measure your home to ensure the piece can comfortably reach the room in which it will live – so think about the doorways, hallways and stairwells it will need to pass through to get there.

Upon founding our House, we spent six months travelling the length and breadth of the UK in search of the country’s finest craftspeople. We are proud to still work closely with these small-scale, family-run businesses today – preserving specialist, age-old trades (not to mention local jobs) while delivering unparalleled quality.
Each design is a celebration of traditional craftsmanship and sublime artistry, made to stand the test of time. No wonder, then, that we call them ‘future heirlooms’

At House of Hackney, we’re all about making changes to protect the natural world and we are always seeking out ways to evolve our business that work more in harmony with Mother Nature. A big part of that is questioning the materials we use; are they the best available and can we do better?
As standard, our wallpaper is made using PVC-free, FSC certified, purposely grown materials, printed with water-based, environmentally safe inks and is made especially to order, reducing waste.
From natural mycelium products and sustainable cork materials to working with paper scientists to explore creating wallpaper from non-wood fibres, we are committed to discovering new material innovations and new ways of thinking and making products.

Our Paint Story
Historic company S.G. Bailey Paints Ltd started making paint in Stroud, Gloucestershire in 1896. Now, at the helm since 1989, Richard Townsend has become an expert at creating bespoke paints. With our Nature-inspired shades we want to bring beauty and creativity to the home while reflecting the principles of sustainability that makes House of Hackney a B corp brand.
